Building Applications on Yahoo with YAP

Opening up the core services, APIs and data of Yahoo! like never before, the Yahoo! Open Strategy is allowing developers to build their presence throughout all Yahoo! properties and reach a massive user base.  The Yahoo Application Platform (YAP) is the tool for this initiative, implementing OpenSocial and OAuth standards with Caja sanitization to provide a unified and secure container for development.  With vitality feeds reaching across the Yahoo! homepage, My Yahoo!, and Mail to name a few, this platform is allowing the development community to steer the course of future technologies on Yahoo!

This talk will cover an overview of the Yahoo Application Platform and how OpenSocial and Caja are driving web standards within Yahoo.  We will explore the core functionality behind the Caja front end securer, the importance of open standards and how developers can build applications on YAP. The talk will be given by Jonathan LeBlanc of YDN.

YUI Evolved: YUI3 and Why It's Good For You

The YUI Library is a set of utilities and controls, written with JavaScript and CSS, for building richly interactive web applications using techniques such as DOM scripting, DHTML and AJAX. Built by frontend engineer at Yahoo! and contributors from around the world, it's proven, scalable, fast, and robust. With the GA release of YUI3 in just September of this year, YUI's next-generation framework just got faster, powerful, and more secure, with a full suite of utilities available and widgets coming in 2010.

This talk will cover the differences between YUI2 and YUI3, an overview on how to utilize YUI3's Event and Node components, and insights and examples on how to power your hack with the YUI Library. This talk will be given by Angela Sabas
